Have you ever thought of your home-based business as the beginning of a journey? Well, if you were planning to drive from Michigan to Colorado, how would you map out your trip? You would set a goal and have an end destination, right? Right! Having a home-based business is really one in the same – it’s a road trip of your life, all leading to amazing possibilities and final destination. All it takes is to make sure you are prepped and ready to go. Careful planning and mapping will be essential to your journey towards success.
What can you do to start planning your trip? First, put your ideas into motion and know how you are going to fuel your car. The fuel your car needs is CONTACTS. Accomplish this by creating a contact list of people you already know, generate new contacts from your own marketing efforts or purchase leads. Ask yourself…
How can I maximize my success, knowing my tank will always be full?
ü Keep your fuel topped off! Fuel = Contacts.
ü How will I know if I need to refuel? Always know the numbers. Distinguish how many contacts you will need over the course of the month and divide them by weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
ü What activities should I accomplish every day? Calls, reminder/follow-up calls, emails and updates to your calendar.
ü How much of each activity do I need to achieve every day? Consider these your business baby steps. Take one dose at a time – You will see these small doses multiply over time. Always keep in mind the end result you want.
ü Who will be your partner for the trip? Choose this person wisely. They should be someone who knows your goals and who can map the journey out with you. Be confident this person will hold you accountable to keep your tank full.
A home-based business can bring incredible successes as you reach your dreams and goals of financial freedom. You are on an amazing journey! Enjoy every moment and every experience. Remember, each person you encounter along the way can be an opportunity to grow your business. 2011 is the year YOU succeed! Gas up your tank and GO!

Learning to Make Every Phone Call a Success
In an effort to capture more leads and grow your home-based business, I want to help you improve your phone communication. As you learn to master the Inviting Formula, making every phone call a success, following these simple steps will greatly impact your communication efforts.
A successful phone call should have these 5 components:
1. Greeting – Hello
2. Qualifying – Ask Questions
3. Inviting – To Listen
4. Close to Action – What do you want them to do?
5. Follow Up – There’s the fortune
If you hear someone say, "People are very excited when I am talking to them…" – this should confirm you are successful in the first three steps – Greeting, Qualifying and Inviting. If someone doesn't follow through with what the two of you previously agreed to do, (in the Close to Action step) this confirms one or more of the following situations may exist:
- You didn't Close to Action correctly- (Scenario 1)
- You didn't Qualify properly – (Scenario 2)
- They didn't look at the information yet, so they avoided you – (Scenario 3)
- They looked at the information and are not interested, so they avoided you – (Scenario 4)
Let's take a look at these different scenarios as you learn to perfect the “Inviting Formula.”
Scenario 1. When you correctly complete the Close to Action step, both you and the prospect agree to do something. The prospect agrees to listen or look and you agree to call them back to discuss. These two notions need to be made clear to the prospect, making this an agreement. What makes this "incorrect" is when the agreement is too "loose." If a person feels as though it doesn't really matter whether they do their part or not, the end result will either be, they don't listen or look at it, or they avoid your calls altogether.
Scenario 2. If and when you completed the Qualify step, and you didn't uncover what they really need or want, or what they didn't want, you will find yourself operating on inaccurate information. This won’t get you anywhere. So, in many ways the entire call was a fabrication. You can of course blame this on the prospect by claiming, "They didn't tell me the truth," but, as you've learned – it does no good to blame the prospect as it won’t make You any better. What in fact causes the prospect to tell you the truth? It’s simple, by your effectiveness in the Greeting step of the formula.
Scenario 3. If the prospect hasn't completed the first part of the agreement (looked at the information), they will undoubtedly avoid your phone calls. They do this because of feeling bad for not keeping up their end of the agreement. All you can do at this point is continue to follow up with professional messages.
Scenario 4. If they did listen and look, and still decided it's not for them, they may be avoiding your calls because they don't know how to say "no" to you. There's nothing you can do at this point except to continue following up with friendly, professional messages.
Having been in a position of “wondering” countless times, I'll tell you, anyone who has made substantial money in this industry (or any sales position) has experienced this. I don't believe success comes without it.
I explained these four scenarios above for one reason – so you would print them out and each time you get the "they're not there" scenario, you can glance at this, realizing all you can do is improve your Inviting Formula and follow up. Once you know what to do, and accepting this is all you can do – you can let go of the feeling of "What am I doing wrong?"
For years I worked to perfect the follow up step. And I believe it is perfected. Call the prospect back at least 8 times in the next 21 days. Be as happy and compassionate on every message you leave, as your very first call, following up with an email between your calls.
Compassionate is defined as: Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it. – Encarta Dictionary
The first step is figuring out – "What am I doing wrong?" To ignore this is arrogant. Once you've perfected the Inviting Formula, get out of your own head and realize for someone not to call you back (after they said they would), they must really be suffering. After all, it doesn't take much to say, "No thanks." When you can get inside of them and sense the pain they must be feeling, you will ensure a calming certainty in yourself for the significance you are bringing.
With that calming certainty… call another and never doubt yourself again.
P.S. That's right. Never doubt yourself again once you know the Prospecting Formula.

We all agree Time is our most valuable asset. Learning how to maximize your time and efforts in order to reach Optimal Performance will be a main ingredient to your success. One of the most frequent questions I am asked is, “How do I know who is worthy of my time?” Let’s talk about this…How you choose to spend your time can improve your income and quality of life, and those you choose to spend your time – will either energize you with positive momentum…or drain you to no end. Ever hear the saying, “You are who you hang around?” This is true in business and all facets of life. The qualities of the people you surround yourself with are as important as how you spend your time. If you are surrounded by all the “wrong” types of people – then your time spent will always be ineffective. If you are surrounded by positive influences which encourage and motivate you, it’s no surprise to see huge strides made in your life.
Now, learning who to pursue, and who to let go, will be a challenge at first, as all things, but will improve your efforts greatly, and by this you will gain Time – your most valuable asset. What is your goal in becoming more effective with your time? It’s reaching Optimal Performance. In order to have Optimal Performance – you must look at the people you interact with – your spouse, boss, friends, business relationships…and ask yourself, are they a positive or negative influence? We all have a choice. Who do you spend your time with? Who do you surround yourself with? These are important questions you must ask. Understand that people are experiences, and with positive influences in your life, you will enable yourself to learn, improve and grow.
Just recently I attended the ANMP Convention (Association of Networking Marketing Professionals). It was inspiring to be surrounded by a who’s-who of the industry; a group of vendors, consultants and top leaders, where some were a complete opposite of myself. It was profound how this influence of positive, motivation – lifted me up – because no matter what our accomplishments, this crowd was a shining example of having reached Optimal Performance and is Living in Excellence. Needless to say, I left the convention inspired beyond words.
So, the question at hand – who is worth your time? Basically, it isn’t necessarily who you “click with,” like you would a best friend, it’s about giving 110% to everything, taking pride in your work and all you do, and truly Living in Excellence. When working a home-based business you must hold the value of your relationships to the utmost, always remembering that people are your biggest asset.
Here are some tips as you learn to decipher your relationships, from Positive to Negative – on your way to attaining Optimal Performance.

Honestly Can Say “I Want Them” and Why
|
You Can’t Say Why You Want Them in Your Business
|
People have asked me – “How long before I Let Go?” Well, to those who asked – What’s the price of inspiration and personal growth? Priceless.Keep in mind; it’s good to connect several times a month through technology.
I challenge You to spend less time with the “Negative.” Dare to be inspired by those around you who will reinforce your drive to build up your business, motivate you, and encourage you…every step of the way.
By honing in on these simple tips, you will improve your relationships and business performance, watching as everything around you prospers.

The Good ones, the Bad ones and the Ugliest of all…doing absolutely Nothing
So what’s the big deal with decision-making? And why are people afraid of it? Since we can all agree that making no decision rarely gives the outcome we want, what about the other choices?
All outcomes will go one of two ways – Good or Bad. As an Industry Leader and Mentor I am often asked how I can make a hundred decisions every day, and still end up on top.
Well, it’s actually pretty simple; you see, you don’t have to be a genius to understand that when something is on the table and no decision is made – you go nowhere. Not up…not down. And it doesn’t take being an extreme risk-taker to advance in life and reach your optimum success. You just have to make a decision.
Ever think that maybe “No” decision puts you worse off than a Good or Bad one? Just think about it for a moment…ok, times up!
It’s like the old saying – “Trust your decision making…don’t rely on other’s to tell you what you already know.” Every decision you will make in your life will fall within the Good, the Bad and the Ugliest of all…doing absolutely Nothing.
Is it the risk factor, or because the risk seems greater than the reward? Don’t be one of those…the type that is so afraid of failing – they do nothing at all. The hardest part of decision-making is always the risk; because every decision affects or changes our life.
Sometimes the choices you make are a good outcome, and some will later have you wondering, “What was I thinking…?” But trust me, the attempt will produce far greater rewards than watching others, who are doers, pass you by.
What advice do I have? Trust your instincts, and connect with the right people; the decision-makers and doers, with the get-it-done attitudes. You know yourself better than anyone and believe me, rarely do we let ourselves down.
Connect with me today and let me help maximize your future.
